- What are the application areas for the ProNeo DM-UVC-010 ?
It can be used on all inanimate surfaces and is preferred where liquid disinfectants cannot be used. Some applications are shown below.
- Is UVC light harmful ?
When using the device, the UVC light source should not be directed at the eyes and it should be used only on inanimate surfaces. It is dangerous to apply directly on living surfaces and also should not be directed towards the eyes.
It should be kept in places out of reach of children.
- Can we see UVC light with the bare eye ?
UVC light is outside the visible spectrum and cannot be seen by the bare eye. However, UVC lights do emit weak light in the blue spectrum.
- How can we be sure that it is actually disinfecting ?
Our product has been tested in the Medical School of a Turkish University and has been shown to be effective against micro-organisms.
- What are the advantages of this product ?
Our product is under the patent process and has many novel features:
- Blue LED's to show the effective UVC disinfecting area
- For extra holding safety, there is a physical separator to avoid the contant of the fingers with the UVC Led's
- For usage safety, the device is equipped with sensors to cut-off the UVC light when the device is pointed upwards
- Smart electronic design
- OLED screen as user interface - to adjust the UVC emitting time as well as showing various device status such as battery status, temperature, etc.
- Furthermore, the product is especially advantageous in areas where liquid disinfectants cannot be used and other products which can emit hazardous gases.
- How is the battery life ?
Our product uses a lithium-ion battery and has battery life of around 2 hours.
The device can be recharged using the included USB cable.
When the device is not used for longer periods, it can discharge - therefore, may need to be charged before usage again.
- How does UVC light disinfect ?
· DNA (deoxyribunucleic acid) found in the cell nucleus is known to have the genetic coding information. |
||
· The ladder-like structure of the DNA with its helix bonds has critical role in reproduction of the cells. |
||
· The UVC light penetrates into the cell and distructs these bonds. |
||
· During cell reproduction, when this distructed chain is reached, the cell cannot continue reproduction and hence, the organism becomes ineffective and is inactivated. |
||
· The procedure is similar for micro-organisms having RNA (ribonucleic acid) - such as viruses. |
||
· Due to the UVC lights, the DNA or RNA loses its ability to reproduce and hence, become inactive. Thus, the disinfection process takes place. |

- What are the differences between UVA / UVB / UVC lights ?
UV light is divided into three categories depending on the wavelength:
UV Type |
Wavelength (nm) |
Application |
UV-A |
320-400 |
Curing of resin material, detection of counterfeit money, air cleaning, etc. |
UV-B |
280-320 |
Plant growth, biotechnology, therapeutic curing, protein analysis for DNA detection |
UV-C |
200-280 |
Inactivation of bacteria and viruses |

- How can we be sure that the product is radiating UVC light ?
There is an optical laboratory in our production facilities. Furthermore, with a UV spectrum analyzer, the wavelength of the UVC Led's have been measure as follows:
